Identity of deputy shot in face during Paso Robles shooting released
PASO ROBLES, Calif. (KION) The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office has released the identity of a deputy who was shot in the face during a shooting Wednesday.
The deputy is identified as 28-year-old Nicholas Dreyfus. The Sheriff's Office said he has worked there since October 2018 and is assigned to the North County station in Templeton.
Dreyfus was one of the deputies who responded to a shooting at the Paso Robles police station. While searching for the suspect, 26-year-old Mason James Lira, he was shot in the face.
Dreyfus was taken to a local hospital before being flown to an out of area trauma center for surgery. The Sheriff's Office said the surgery was successful. He is in guarded condition, but his prognosis is good.
