Greenfield High School teacher accused of embezzlement, arrested
KING CITY, Calif. (KION) A Greenfield High School teacher was arrested after being accused of embezzlement.
King City police said Adrienne Lara was arrested Tuesday.
Police said an investigation showed that Lara had medical notes that were fake or altered, allowing Lara to get funds illegally.
Lara is facing charges that include embezzlement, forgery, theft of public funds and altering medical records.
The South Monterey County Joint Union High School District said Lara has been placed on administrative leave and will not be on campus while the charges are pending. The district said it will not provide any more details.
"The District has fully cooperated with law enforcement during their investigation and will continue to do so as needed. In spite of this unfortunate issue, the District remains focused on our primary mission of educating our students," said District Superintendent Brian Walker in a statement.
