MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Monterey County residents who did not graduate high school due to military service or internment may be eligible to receive their diploma through a program offered by the Office of Education.

There is no charge to participate in the program, and surviving family members can apply for posthumous recognition.

People who served in World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War and Japanese-American citizens who left high school because of internment in World War II relocation camps are eligible if they are also residents of Monterey County, are able to give proof of military service with honorable discharge or proof of having been interned in a relocation camp and were enrolled in high school before enlistment or internment.

The application deadline is March 27, and the applications can be found on the Office of Education website or by calling the Communications Officer at 831-784-4245.
