Salinas City Council to consider new e-cigarette and tobacco restrictions
SALINAS, Calif. (KION)
Salinas is close to being the latest Central Coast city to add new restrictions on selling e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco.
A report ahead of Tuesday's meeting, where the proposed ordinance will be discussed, cites "numerous reports and studies on the negative health effects of electronic cigarette products and the attractiveness of both electronic cigarette products and flavored tobacco products among youth."
New restrictions would include bans on:
- Selling flavored tobacco products
- Selling or distributing e-cigarette products, including for marijuana use
- Tobacco products sold or distributed from a vending machine or appliance
- Selling or distributing tobacco productions to people under 21.
This is a developing story.
