County in negotiations with new Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca management team
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Monterey County officials said they are in negotiations with a new management team interested in taking over Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca in January.
Monterey County owns the world-renowned raceway and started accepting applications for new management in October.
SCRAMP currently runs business at the raceway, but the county said another group submitted a more competitive offer.
In a statement to KION, SCRAMP CEO Tim McGrane said, "This news comes as a surprise to the SCRAMP organization. We were starting to make real progress on getting the facility and the raceway operations turned around and poised for the future, but it appears at this time we may not have the opportunity to see these plans through."
