California Rodeo Salinas focuses on domestic violence
Along with the cowboy hat and boots, many riders and fans proudly wore purple Sunday at the California Rodeo Salinas.
The Rodeo has teamed up with the Man Up Crusade for the fourth year. This is to raise public awareness on domestic violence. In particular the organization wants to shine light on teen dating violence, in hope to make a change.
The Mayor of Salinas, Joe Gunter, has something to say about that. He says, “Men have to learn how to treat women properly. And what we have done is, we have made it on Sunday, just to remind everybody how fortunate we are to have the women in this community and in every community and they ought to be treated properly.”
Man up crusade chose the Rodeo because they believe the cowboy is a symbol of “strength and fortitude.”
