Portions of 29 counties, including Santa Cruz, to lose power on Tuesday
Pacific Gas and Electric announced that because of a wind event its meteorologists have forecast, customers in 29 counties will lose power starting on Tuesday.
In total, about 605,000 customers will be affected, including some in Santa Cruz County. Parts of the county are still without power as a result of a shutoff beginning on Saturday, and it is possible some of them will also be affected by Tuesday’s shutoff. PG&E also said power restoration for some affected by Saturday’s shutoff may not be finished before Tuesday’s starts.
Monterey and San Benito counties were affected by Saturday’s power shutoff, but are not part of Tuesday’s. Other counties affected include Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Humboldt, Kern, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba.
As of 4:30 Monday afternoon, power was restored to more than 325,000 customers affected by Saturday’s shutoff.
