Natividad prepared for “mass casualty incident” following prison riot in Soledad
Officials at the Correctional Training Facility confirm with KION there was a riot at the prison today.
Officials with Natividad confirm they are expecting multiple patients from the prison and have set up triage for a “mass casualty incident.” The emergency room is on lockdown as patients arrive.
Currently, six patients have been taken in from the incident. The first ambulance arrived shortly after 11:40 a.m.
Dr. Craig Walls, the Chief Medical Officer at Natividad, tells KION that he can’t disclose the type or severity of the injuries, but did say that the first five patients to arrive had injures that required immediate transportation to the hospital.
The Natividad emergency room is on lockdown, as of last update.
The Correctional Training Facility is no stranger to these types of incidents, as multiple riots have taken place in recent months.
This is a developing story. We will continue to update this article as we learn more.
