Fans pack Pebble Beach for the final round of the 119th U.S. Open
It’s Championship Sunday in golf’s ultimate test and fans packed Pebble Beach for the final round as Gary Woodland took the big win.
Tens of thousands of people came to watch their favorite golfers Sunday June 16th on the course and at the practice range.
“Brooks, he’s the man what a cool calm demeanor,” said Palm Springs resident Tim Hurja.
“It’s always about Tiger,” said Steve Cotton, from the Bay Area.
The final round was extra special for the dads in attendance as they were celebrating Father’s Day at Pebble with their families.
Tim Hurja told KION he was at the championship with his father and son Hunter.
“I called this guy here and I said I’m going to go hang out with Hunter for Father’s Day and we are going to Pebble Beach he was in Michigan and I said do you want to come and that was 3 days ago, he said I’m in so we picked him up in LA and drove off so this is pretty awesome,” said Hurja.
“This is my gift, my birthday present from them. I have a nice daughter and a nice son-in-law,” said Mike Ward, visiting from the Bay Area.
“My son texted me this morning and I am just out here to enjoy and see the best,” said golf fan Alan Lewis.
“He surprised me for Father’s Day with the tickets,” said Al Castaldo visiting from Las Vegas.
“I’ve never been to a golf tournament before so I figured I would surprise him and it’s a good gift,” said Al Castaldo junior.
Tiger didn’t walk away the winner, but his fans said they aren’t giving up on him.
“It is a hard sport to win every time. We’re hoping he can improve his game a little bit and that will help him next time,” said Steve Cotton, visiting from the Bay Area.
“He jump started golf and with the win at the Masters so just the fact he made the cut is great!” said Mike Ward.
Pebble Beach will host the men’s U.S. Open again in 2027.
