Woman pinned under car after Santa Cruz hit-and-run dies of her injuries
UPDATE 6/11/2019 11:20 a.m. A woman who was pinned underneath a car in a Santa Cruz hit-and-run has died of her injuries.
Santa Cruz police say the victim, 55-year-old Diana Crotty died Monday night. The hit-and-run happened on June 5 near Cedar Street and Maple street. She was last reported to be in critical condition.
The suspect, 27-year-old Alejandro Fernandez, is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. He is booked in the Santa Cruz County jail.

It happened Wednesday at around 7:12 p.m. Police say they responded to the area around Cedar Street and Maple Street after a report of a hit and run involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found a 55-year-old Santa Cruz woman in the road pinned under a car. Santa Cruz firefighters gave her medical attention. She was taken to a nearby trauma center and is in critical condition.
Police searched the area for the suspect, who reportedly left the scene. Witnesses described the suspect and said he was jumping fences and running northbound toward Cathcart Street.
Two Watsonville men were arrested, and one of them is the registered owner of the suspect vehicle in the hit and run.
