Man arrested after high-speed chase in Soledad
A man was arrested after leading Sheriff’s deputies and police officers on a high-speed chase near Soledad Sunday morning.
It started when a Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputy found a stolen Mercedes going south on Highway 101. While waiting for more deputies to respond, the driver took off while the patrol car was following him.
The driver led the deputy on a chase that got up to 130 miles per hour on Foothill Road, but another deputy deployed spike strips that disabled the tires on the Mercedes.
The driver crashed into a drainage ditch, hitting a fence on Foletta Road. By that point, multiple deputies were involved as well as police officers from Greenfield and Soledad.
Bryan Hanamoto, who also had a felony arrest warrant, was arrested.
