PREVIOUS STORY: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding a missing Boulder Creek man.
Jeffrey Sauer, was last seen March 31. His car was found in Big Basin State Park near China Grade Road and Highway 236.
Friends of Sauer say it is extremely unlike him not to show up at work, or the dance studio where he preforms and takes ballet classes.
Shannon Cullem-Chipman is the director of the International Academy of Dance in Santa Cruz and says she’s known Sauer for about 10 years.
“It’s very unlike him to not show up to work in those kinds of things, he’s very steadfast and reliable. He’s very motivated by his work and by dance, and always somebody you can count on.”
State Park rangers found his car at the park on March 31 and after noticing it was there for a few days they called the Sheriff’s Office to investigate.
Sgt. Dee Baldwin with Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office says that’s when they linked it to Sauer.
They began an extensive search Friday morning, with no luck.
“We spent about 13 hours there, with all of those personnel looking for him. We found no clue of his presence there and that transitioned into Saturday that we began another search using mutual aid with Monterey County and San Benito, using tracking dogs, still no evidence that we found.”
The Sheriff’s Office says anyone who sees Sauer or knows anything regarding his whereabouts should call them at 831-471-1121.
