Royal Oaks man arrested for marijuana charges after running from Sheriff’s deputies
A Royal Oaks man was arrested for marijuana-related charges after running from Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies.
30-year-old Raymond Padilla was stopped by deputies for vehicle code violations on Highway 101 near Gould Road in Salinas.
Deputies say he was driving on a suspended license for a past DUI and had a no bail warrant for his arrest. During a search of his truck, they also found 10 oz. of marijuana, more than 200 CBD THC oil vape cartridges and more than $1,100 in cash.
While investigating, they also found that Padilla had a history of marijuana sales and has been involved in shootings in connection with them.
Deputies arrested him, but he got away and ran across four lanes of Highway 101 during rush hour and barely avoided getting hit.
He was re-arrested after a short chase.
Padilla was booked into the Monterey County Jail for several charges that include transporting marijuana and possession of marijuana for sales.
