Iconic cypress tree damaged by storm in Pebble Beach

An iconic cypress tree in Monterey County was damaged by this week’s storm.

The “Lone Cypress” in Pebble Beach is a Monterey cypress tree standing on a granite hillside off 17-Mile Drive.

The tree has been called one of the most photographed trees in North America.

It is located between Cypress Point Golf Course and the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

The tree is possibly as old as 250 years.

The Monterey cypress grows naturally only in Pebble Beach and Point Lobos. A drawing of the tree was registered as the Pebble Beach trademark in 1919.

KION’s Megan Meier will have more on the “Lone Cypress” at 5 and 6 p.m.
