Major storm knocks out power across Central Coast
10:00am update: Power is still out for many on the Monterey Peninsula, most in Pebble Beach/Del Monte Forest and over into Carmel. There are about 300 without power in Santa Cruz County.
7:50am update: Power is still out for many on the Monterey Peninsula, most in Pebble Beach/Del Monte Forest and over into Carmel. There are still around 1,000 without power in parts of Santa Cruz County, 500 in east Salinas, and about 100 without power in Las Lomas.
5:00 am update: Power is out for many on the Monterey Peninsula, most in Pebble Beach/Del Monte Forest and over into Carmel. New outages have been reported on the east side of Salinas out to Old Stage Road and roughly 6,000 customers in Santa Cruz.
Pacific Gas & Electric is reporting thousands of customers without power across California’s Central Coast.
As of 4:00am, a check of the PG&E website showed about 10,000 customers have lost power in the areas of Carmel, Peeble Beach and Pacific Grove. A number of customers are also without electricity in Bonny Doon and Las Lomas.
The California Highway Patrol website indicates wires and trees down on a number of area roadways. Carpenter Road in Carmel, which was the target of a violent storm about two weeks ago, appears to have been hit again. Trees are reportedly scattered across the road there.
