Possible missing kayaker near Garrapata Beach

Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Cal-Fire, California State Parks and other agencies attempted to look for a possible missing kayaker near Garrapata Beach.

The Sheriff’s Office says they found a red, two-seater type kayak sitting unattended on some rocks near the beach on Tuesday.

It was after that they spent hours searching for whoever the kayak may have belonged to out of fears the kayakers may have been swept out to sea.

The search was partially done with the help of a drone. Drone operations had to cease once it got to be too dark for crews to continue.

During the investigation, MCSO found there were no reports of missing kayakers nor were there any abandoned vehicles found in the area.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about who the red kayak may belong to to step forward and give them a call.

This search operation comes after crews recovered the body of 18 year old Braxton Stuntz at Garrapata State Park this week.
