Man arrested after firing gun on Salinas street, drugs seized
A man allegedly fired a gun and attempted to hide when Salinas police arrived.
According to the Salinas Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 200 block of Sun Way around 4:50 a.m. Monday.
Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Jose Gonzalez who was attempting to hide behind a truck in the parking lot. Gonzalez was quickly detained.
“During their investigation, officers were able to determine Gonzalez had in fact fired a gunshot from a firearm, which activated ShotSpotter,” said SPD.
A loaded Glock 27 handgun, two boxes of ammunition, multiple bindles of heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana were found near the area where Gonzalez was standing.
Gonzalez was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail.
