Bill aims to protect Monarch butterflies from extinction

It’s that time of year where Natural Bridges State Park fills with Monarch butterflies.

Conservationists fear that without help, this species could become extinct on the West Coast within the next 20 years.

This month a bill was signed that aims at protecting Monarchs and other pollinators.

This bill establishes the Monarch Butterfly and Pollinator Rescue Program, to be administered by the Wildlife Conservation Board.

The bill will authorize the board to provide grants and technical assistance to landowners and other entities wanting to help in successful monarch migration.

Ashley Keehn will have more at 5 & 6pm.
