Former correctional officer gets 1 year in jail for sex attempt towards Soledad inmate

UPDATE: 10/5/2018 8:47 a.m. A former Monterey County correctional officer was sentenced to 365 days in jail for attempting to have sex with a prison inmate.

Juliana Vanesa Picazo was arrested in June and accused of conspiracy to commit a crime and having unauthorized communication with a prisoner.

Officials at the Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad said Picazo resigned from her position as correctional officer in February.
