Monterey County has an official flag

Monterey County has an official flag!

It was approved by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors in a 5-0 vote.

Supervisor Luis Alejo released the following statement about the flag.

“Only 24 of 58 counties have an official flag and Monterey County now became the 25th. Considering Monterey County and the City of Monterey were home to the first capital of California under Spain and Mexico and the site of the California Constitutional Convention in 1849, it was long overdue with our rich history and deep California roots. It will now be a symbol of pride for our local residents and future generations.”

This is the first official flag for Monterey County.

The artist behind the flag is Priscilla Martinez.
