Former Gonzales High School janitor accused of sexual contact with multiple victims

A former janitor at Gonzales High School has been arrested after law enforcement officials say he had several inappropriate relationships with seven underage victims.

Monterey County Sheriff officials say in May of this year, deputies were made aware of possible inappropriate activity between 19-year-old Angel Eduardo Vasquez and a juvenile.

Vasquez goes by “Angelo” and was employed as a janitor at Gonzales High School.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division took over the investigation. Over the next three months, investigators worked the case and learned that Vasquez had numerous underage victims. Vasquez has been accused of having inappropriate sexual relationships with seven underage victims.

Vasquez was interviewed and admitted to pursuing numerous underage girls between the ages of fourteen and seventeen and having inappropriate sexual contact with them.

Investigators believe there are an unknown amount of additional victims who need to be identified. Vasquez was arrested following his interview and booked into the Monterey County Jail on numerous sexual related offenses.

Vasquez’s bail was set at $200,000.00. Vasquez lived in the cities of Gonzales, Soledad and Greenfield.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking any additional victims to come forward. Additionally anyone with information about this case, Vasquez or any possible additional victims is asked to contact Investigator Javier Galvan at 831-755-3811 or Detective Sergeant Bryan Hoskins at 831-755-3773.
