Australian diving instructor frees shark
A diving lesson off the coast of Byron Bay, eastern Australia, turned into a rescue mission last Sunday (8/9) when the instructor successfully removed plastic netting from the jaws of a grey nurse shark.
Spanish diver Inaki Aizpun, who has lived in Australia for 25 years, released video showing his attempt to remove the netting by tugging on a plastic line hanging from the shark’s mouth.
Aizpun was elated to help the shark avoid a slow and painful death, with discarded plastics directly causing millions of deaths to marine life every year.
