Driver ID’d in Carmel fatal crash
A Carmel woman died late Wednesday night when her car struck a tree.
The California Highway Patrol says the driver, 69-year-old Joan Michele, suddenly veered off the road and crashed into a tree near the corner of Carmel Valley Road and Carmel Rancho Boulevard.
Investigators don’t believe drugs or alcohol were factors, but have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
