Seaside council member receives threats over gun control
Threats have been made against a local city leader.
Seaside councilmember Kayla Jones said people have been threatening her and her daughter after Jones introduced a resolution calling for tougher federal gun control.
Jones posted the claims on her Facebook page Tuesday night saying she’s received threatening phone calls from both men and women and has reported them to the appropriate authorities.
Jones is running for mayor in Seaside and wrote in part that “critique, criticism, disagreement” and even anger were okay but “harassment” was not.
Jones authored a resolution that calls for the federal government to enact tougher gun control laws. The Seaside city council passed the resolution unanimously last week and is expected to send it on to
Congressman Jimmy Panetta, State Senator Bill Monning and Assemblymember Mark Stone.
