Monterey County families will head to Capitol to remember murdered loved ones on Monday
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week begins this Sunday. A group from Salinas will once again make the trip up to the State Capitol to represent their loved ones who were murdered.
This annual trip began ten years ago. They use to take vans up, but now so many people go that they’ll be chartering two buses Monday. However growth in numbers is not a good thing, because that just means more families are missing their loved ones.
“His name will never be forgotten, that’s why I do it so his face, but mainly his name.” said A Time for Grieving and Healing Founder, Debbie Aguilar.
Countless Families from Monterey County will take the annual trip up to the capitol on monday. Pictures of their loved ones will be set up alongside victims from all over the state. Debbie Aguilar, says the first time she went to the rally ten years ago, a fire was ignited in her.
“It’s therapeutic and energizing, but it’s also sad. It’s very sad because for those moms and fathers that are coming this year when they see their loved one it’s going to be bitter sweet. But they’re going to love it and they always want to go back,” said Aguilar.
Two charter buses will be leaving from North Salinas at 6:30 a.m. Monday. If you would like to join, contact Debbie Aguilar here. The bus is free.
