Hollister officials issue warrant for inmate who walked away from hospital

UPDATE: San Benito County Sheriff’s Office officials tell us a warrant has been issued for the inmate who walked away from Hazel Hawkins Hospital Monday afternoon.

Officials tell us 34-year-old David Lopez was supposed to report to law enforcement when he was discharged from the hospital, but failed to do so. He was on an emergency medical pass from the courts.

There was search for Lopez this afternoon, but he was not found. A warrant has now been issued for his arrest.

Lopez was originally charged after stealing a car, having a taser and making threats.

Hollister officials continue their search for an inmate who escaped an area hospital this afternoon.

There is currently police activity in the area of Gabilan & Highland in connection for the search of a Hispanic male.

Hollister Police Officers, San Benito County Sheriffs Deputies and San Benito County Probation are in the area helping with the search.
