Monterey County Sheriff’s Office warning homeless community about trespassing

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is warning the homeless community about trespassing on public and private properties.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office Community Services Division contacted several homeless encampments between Barnet Segal Lane and Viejo Road in the unincorporated area of Monterey.

They contacted the encampments after complaints from residents as well as concerned citizens who had driven by the area and saw trash and debris.

The Sheriff’s Office Services Division had to access the area with the Polaris because of the rough terrain along with the amount of trash and debris in the area.

Trespassing notifications were made to let the homeless know to leave.

The Sheriff’s Office said the encampments have been an ongoing problem in the area for quite some time.
