Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk says goodbye to Ferris wheel

After nearly 60 years of “faithful” service the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk will retire it’s beloved Ferris wheel.

The Ferris wheel first made it’s debut at the boardwalk in 1959 and has had more than 4 million riders since 1984.

“We know many guests love the Ferris Wheel and we do too! We’ll be looking at replacement options and will keep you posted,” said Boardwalk officials.

Communications Manager, Brigid Fuller said the beachside theme park is looking at all replacement options including a new Ferris wheel but that decision won’t be made until the end of the year.

Seats have already been removed and the rest of the Ferris wheel will be taken down next week.
