Salinas School of Dance hosts Irish Dance show
The Salinas School of Dance hosted a free show for the community Sunday as a way to give back.
Dancers from the age of 5 to 18 preformed modern and traditional Irish Dancing. There was also a performance from the singing quartet Four on the Floor.
Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter’s wife Lisa owns and Directs the School of Dance. They say the kids were excited to put on the show, “all of the dancers want to do the community show. They want to give back because they fee like people are out seeing what else they do, ya know they hear about what goes on and they really want to give back to the community and this is a chance to bring the community together,” says Gunter.
Two of the dancers will be graduating high school this year, making this their last Big Irish Show. Danielle Simpson and Gabriella Graziano have been dancing for more than 10 years. They say while they are excited for their next adventure they are thankful for what this program has given them. “It’s given me a family, a second home, and taught me so many things that you probably wouldn’t have learned anywhere else. So it’s awesome To grow up doing dance. It’s been a great experience,” says Simpson.
While they will be moving away for College they both plan to come back and help out when they can. “I’m going to be here in June I’m going to help teach and I’m going to come back during breaks and help them with shows. I’m not going to leave this place is my home,” says Graziano.
The Salinas School of Dance says they plan to hold more of these free events in the future.
