Daylight Saving Time is here

We have officially sprung forward, but not everyone woke up feeling refreshed.

Since 1949 we have been pushing clocks forward the second weekend in March. It’s something some people want to do away with saying it messes up their schedule and is more of a hassle than anything else.

For several years there have been bills pushing to get rid of daylight saving, or keep daylight saving time year round.

KION spoke with some Central Coast residents who mostly liked that they see more daylight, but don’t like having to change the clock.

“It’s kind of a pain, I wish it would just stay the same all year round. We wouldn’t have to make that adjustment, we’d have more sunlight in daylight to play outside.”
“I like that it stays so late at night, so maybe it’s good.”
“It doesn’t belong anymore ya let’s vote against it.”
“It’s not really natural and you have to change all of your clocks and it’s just a big bugaboo.”

There is a bill written to repeal the Daylight Saving Act, but it is currently inactive.

Hawaii and Arizona are the only two states that do not participate in Daylight Saving.
