Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off raises big money for local programs

The Annual Santa Cruz Clam Chowder Cook-Off raised a record-breaking $100,000 for parks and recreation programs this year.

According to a spokesperson for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the event has raised over $1,489,500 for Parks&Rec since it started in 1981.

This year the event was held the weekend of February 24&25th. It is put on by the boardwalk and the City of Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation Department.

“The increase in the proceeds from this event will ensure more kids in our community can receive scholarships to our popular summer camps,” Garcia said.

Monterey’s Loulou’s Griddle in the Middle won the Best Professional Boston category. The diner has competed for the past four years, but this was their first time winning.
