Some Central Coast movie theaters adopting new bag policy this week

If you plan on going to a Cinemark Theatres on the Central Coast, be prepared for changes coming this week.

Starting this Thursday, February 22nd, Cinemark Theatres will not allow bags/purses larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6 inside their theatres, nationwide.

Tough luck for those hoping to sneak snacks into the theater with their purses. However according to the company, they are doing this in an effort to “enhance the safety and security” of their guests and employees, in the wake of recent events in Florida.

Diaper bags and medical equipment bags will still be allowed in the theater, but Cinemark officials say all bags will be subject to a search before entering.

Movie theatres implementing the policy include Monterey 13, Century Marina and XD and Century 14 Northridge Mall.

Cinemark previously had a change in their costume policy after the shooting during the screening of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in Colorado back in 2012. Customers are now not allowed to wear masks, face paint or have fake weapons.
