Grand Opening of Monterey Conference Center happening Wednesday
The original center was built in 1977 and in need of a makeover. Construction began in 2016. The project called for a complete overhaul of the conference center. The new center is expected to be an economic engine for the city of Monterey.
“By attracting conference center business this year we are filling hotels, and we are generating taxes and revenues for our downtown merchants as well as for the city,” said Interim City Manager Hans Uslar.
The conference center is already booked for pretty much the remainder of 2018, with an estimated 70-thousand participants scheduled to come to Monterey throughout the year and attend a conference here.
The community is invited to the grand opening, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. They will have refreshments, speeches and music.
