Los Coches Adobe one of the scariest places around

We’re just hours away from the spookiest day of the year, but we’re just minutes away from some of the spookiest places in the country. We went to one of those places today and made it back in one piece to tell us the story.

This is Los Coches Adobe in Soledad, at one time a stop for stage coaches in the mid-to-late 1800’s, and now an abandoned building said to be haunted. Soledad Mayor Fred Ledesma told me stories of loud parties and stagecoaches still being heard there at night, apparitions being spotted by the side of the road, and even blankets flying off of the people who would stay there decades ago. He says those are just a few of the frightening tales he has heard.

“I personally don’t stick around long enough to find out if that’s true or not, but some of the people who have shared that with me…some of the city workers, my own father, wouldn’t lie to me. They would tell me and they’ve had some pretty interesting stories about what happened here or what they’re experiences have been here.So I’ll leave it at that. The rest is a mystery I guess,” said Soledad Mayor, Fred Ledesma.

Los Coches Adobe has receieved so much paranormal interest, that even Travel Channel’s hit series “Ghost Adventures” shot an episode in the famed stagecoach stop and apparently found a lot of ghostly activity.

A few other places around Monterey County that are said to be haunted include San Carlos Cathedral, the Monterey Hotel, the Cutom House, and the Carmel Mission.
