Child in protective custody after six Salinas residents are arrested on various charges

Monterey deputies responded to reports of a child endangerment tip that led to a search warrant at a home in the 1300 block of Las Cruces Court in Salinas on Thursday.

During the search warrant an, Ak-47 and another loaded gun were found within reach of a 7 year old with special needs, deputies said.

Deputies said there was evidence of rampant drug use in the childs presence.

Cocaine, heroin and marijuana were found and seized.

Deputies said they arrested Jose Castaneda, 36, Christian Uribe, 26, Joseph Hernandez, 24, Gregory Gutierrez, 26, Angelita Ramirez, 43, and Elaine Rodriguez, 38. They were all booked into county jail on various charges.

The child was placed into protective custody.
