Monterey Car Week coming soon
Car Week- the automobile exhibition that draws over 39,000 car enthusiasts to the area and raised over $53.3 million last year-kicks off next month.
Be sure you don’t miss the events that are heralding in Car Week.
The Monterey Pre-Reunion will take place on Aug. 12 and 13 at Laguna Seca Race Track. The Pre-Reunion precedes the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and gives car enthusiasts the opportunity to observe teams working on over 300 race cars that will be competing in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, which will be held between the 17 and the 20.
“[The Pre-Reunion] is the annual celebration of all-things-automobile, with a showcase of vintage race cars with historical significance taking to the iconic road course,” said Brad Littlefield, Public Relations Manager at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “It is a more relaxed showcase for fans to enjoy before the largely attended Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion the following week.”
The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a race where approximately 550 cars compete for the gold .
“You don’t see golfers using wooden clubs or football players donning leather helmets, but you can see drivers wheeling race cars from different eras on the track as they were intended,” said Littlefield.
Work on the cars will take place in the paddock, which will be open to the public. Tickets for paddock entrance at the Pre-Reunion are $30.
The Automobilia Monterey Expo is scheduled for the 16 and 17 at the Embassy Suits in Seaside. It is the largest automobilia exposition in the country and will include automobilia such as original vintage posters, rallye plates, badges and pins, hood ornaments, signs, scale models, literature and books, signed items and more!
The event begins at 10 a.m. and goes until 6 p.m. both days.
Car Week Wraps up on Aug. 20 with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The Concours judges automobiles and motorcycles on their historical accuracy, technical merit and style. “The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is actually hosting a ‘double concours’ for the first time ever,” said Kandace Hawkinson, Media and Public Relations Lead for Pebble Beach Concours. “The main concours show field on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links will once again feature 200 of the greatest collector cars, drawn from all over the globe. At the same time, the 1st fairway will be filled with 70 cars attending the Ferrari Concours, honoring that marque’s 70th anniversary,”
The Concours will be held at and around the Lodge at Pebble Beach from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $325 in advance and $375 at the gate.
