BIG SUR: Highway 1 opens at Pauls Slide
Tuesday morning CalTrans crews did some boulder blasting to clear out the road at Paul’s Slide.
The 35 mile stretch of Highway 1 that opened Tuesday morning runs through Monterey County, beginning south of Gorda to just south of Pfeiffer Canyon.
One way reversing traffic control is still in effect.
State Route 1 remains closed north of Salmon to just south of Gorda after the Mud Creek mud slide in May, the damage from which has yet to be entirely fixed.
State Route 1 south of Salmon Creek can be accessed by taking State Route 1 in San Luis Obispo County.
Although members of the public cannot access all Highway 1, businesses are open on both sides of the closure sites at Pfeiffer Canyon and Salmon Creek.
