Santa Cruz Police Department trains city employees on Workplace Violence

Active shooter situations in the workplace are something police departments hope never happen but they want to be prepared.

This week the Santa Cruz Police Department conducted a workplace violence training course for 60 city employees.

The seminar addressed concerns about how people should respond to an active shooter at work.

SCPD made a presentation to help employers and staff learn how to make their work areas more secure and teach employees what to do if they ever find themselves threatened by an armed individual.

-Recognize signs of potential violence.
-Learn steps that can be taken to reduce the threat of workplace violence.
-Understand how police respond to an active shooter incident.
-Know how to protect yourself if an armed individual enters your workplace.
