Big Rig crashes through barrier on Laureles Grade Road

This morning The California Highway Patrol responded to call of a big rig flatbed overturned on Laureles Grade Road and Carmel Valley Road.

CHP said the big rig went off the road into a field and overturned in Carmel Valley. The big rig’s fuel tanks were punctured spilling out gas and oil on the the grass area.

The driver was initially stuck inside the vehicle. He’s since been taken to the hospital and suffered major injuries.

CHP said the company of the big rig, “Greenfield Turf,” is on the way to clean up the mess.

The road will remain open.

As for the cause of the accident, CHP is investigating.
