Kathy Griffin show cancelled in Carmel
UPDATE: 5/31/2017 Sunset Center announces cancellation of Kathy Griffins October 13 performance.
Around 1 p.m. the Sunset Center posted this statement on facebook:
” Sunset Center does not endorse or condone the activities or beliefs of any of its performers. Regarding the recent controversy with Kathy Griffin, we have heavily considered all factors involving a decision to cancel her performance on October 13. With Ms. Griffin’s public apology and release of any further contractual obligation, we are now confirming 100% cancellation of the performance scheduled here at the Sunset Center on October 13.”
Dozens of community members commented on the post and showed support in the Sunset Centers decision.

Comedian Kathy Griffin was scheduled to perform at the Sunset Center in Carmel in October.
After the recent controversial photo of Griffin holding a bloody head resembling President Donald Trump, the Sunset Center released this statement on its social media page:
” Sunset Center does not endorse or condone the actions of performers scheduled in our theater. We apologize for any angst this has caused any of our patrons or supporters. We are in contact with Ms. Griffin’s representatives and hope to have additional information soon.”
Tickets for other shows are available for purchase on the Sunset Center’s website, but tickets for Griffin’s Central Coast show are not.
