Disney’s “magical place” in Palm Springs is off the market
A home once owned by Walt Disney and his wife Lillian is in escrow.
The Disneys built the four bedroom, four bath home on S. El Camino Real in 1962.
“It was supposedly used for the Imagineers to come and get inspired,” said realtor Klint Watkins of HK Lane.
The home was also used by the Disneys until Walt’s death four years later, and stayed in trust with the family until it’s sale in April 2015. Watkins said it was sold for $650,000 at that time.
Watkins could not confirm the current sale price, but confirmed it was listed at $899,000.
He said many of the furnishings are original and were sold with the home. “The interior was virtually untouched and well maintained by the Disneys and the only other owner.”
The more than 2,400 square foot home sits on a quarter acre of land with a pool. Traces of Disney can be found throughout the home, including bright, colorful furniture and inspirational “Disney” quotes.
Realtor Alex Dethier of Palm Springs Homes and Condos represents the new buyer(s). He was not immediately available for comment.
Watkins said the sale of this home was the last of Disney’s properties in Palm Springs.
Speaking of Disney, KESQ and CBS Local 2’s Alexandra Pierce will be live from Disneyland on Thursday and Friday as she gives you a preview of the newly renovated Tower of Doom, which is now a Guardians of Galaxy ride. You can see that on Thursday at 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
