Crews contain a small grass fire in Carmel Valley

UPDATE 5/25/15 7:50 PM: Firefighters have contained a small grass fire in Carmel Valley.

According to Cal Fire, the fire burned a quarter of an acre on Schulte Road off of Carmel Valley Road Thursday.

Crews were able to put out the fire just before 6:00 p.m. and controlled it about an hour later.

Crews attacked the flames from the ground and air. 78 firefighters worked to put it out.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Cal Fire is working to contain a small fire in Carmel Valley, near Schulte Rd.

Crews say the fire is about a quarter acre and is not spreading quickly.

But because its in a remote area, crews are trying to put it out from the ground and air.

So far, they’ve called out one air attack, two air tankers, five engines, one bulldozer and two inmate crews.

Some traffic is backed up on Carmel Valley Rd.
