New officers joining the Salinas Police Department

Six new officers are joining the Salinas Police Department.

The six recruits graduated from the academy on Wednesday morning. There was a swearing-in ceremony in the evening at city hall.

Deputy Chief Dave Shaw told KION the majority of the new officers are all Central Coast residents with the majority of them from Salinas.

The department will now have a total of 141 officers.
