Police looking for motorcyclist responsible in 9-year-old boy hit and run in Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz police is looking for the motorcyclist who struck a 9-year-old boy who was walking with his mother on a crosswalk at Mission Street and Van Ness Avenue on Sunday afternoon.

The boy is in a Bay Area Trauma center with non life-threatening injuries, said police.

The motorcyclist hit the child while weaving in and out of lanes that had stopped traffic to let the mother and son cross the street.

The rider did not stop after hitting the child and continued leaving at a high speed southbound on Mission Street, according to police.

Santa Cruz Police asked for help in finding the driver of the motorcycle.
