Suspected gunman arrested in Salinas Applebee’s shooting
UPDATED 4/5/17 10:01 a.m.: Salinas police announced the second suspect in a shooting outside Applebee’s last month was taken into custody Wednesday morning.
Officers said Timothy Charles Hampton, 27, was arrested and charged with first degree attempted murder.
He’s being held at the Monterey County Jail.
UPDATED: 03/27/2017 at 11:10 P.M.: Salinas officers say one suspect is now in custody. The suspect was found by a CHP helicopter and arrested on Cherokee Drive.
Police are still searching for a second gunman.
PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas Police are searching for the gunman responsible for a shooting outside Applebee’s restaurant.
According to police, it happened around 9:21 p.m. Monday. Multiple groups inside the restaurant got into an argument and went outside. That’s when one man shot the 27-year-old victim. He was hit several times and is in surgery.
Police said someone who knows the victim then shot at the gunman.
Police are looking for both shooters involved and are using a helicopter to search the area.
The restaurant was half full during the time of the shooting, but there are no reports of any injuries.
