Soledad suspect arrested in road rage incident
A 19-year-old man from Soledad is behind bars in Santa Clara County, following a road rage incident involving gun fire just north of San Martin on Saturday, according to the Morgan Hill Police Department.
The incident started on Monterey Road just past midnight on April 1st, with the driver of one of the vehicles brandishing a handgun.
Also according to police, the suspect followed the vehicle to the intersection of Vineyard Boulevard and Lacrosse Drive, where he got out and fired into the passenger side of the other vehicle. As the victim made a U-turn, more shots were fired.
The victim drove to the parking lot of a Safeway on Tennant Road and called 911. He was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower left leg.
Officers set up a perimeter, found the vehicle and determined that Alexander Monzon, 19, was possibly driving the vehicle involved in the shooting, according to police.
When Morgan Hill Police officers learned that Monzon was wanted on a nearly $5 million Monterey County warrant for attempted homicide, police say, additional back-up was requested from outside agencies. A Star-1 helicopter and K-9 also helped in the search. Monzon was found hiding at a residence on John Wilson Way.
Monzon was booked in the Santa Clara County Jail for the warrant and the violation of attempted homicide, according to police.
