Body found floating off Santa Cruz coast identified

UPDATE 3/15/2017, 12:43 p.m.: Officials of the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office said they have identified the body that was found floating off the coast earlier this month.

Officials said many responded to a post for help regarding the body that was found off the coast of Santa Cruz.

According to officials, one person recognized the images of the clothing posted on the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

That person then messaged a photo and link to a Facebook page of the missing person to deputies, officials said.

That information is what led to identifying the man and notifying his family.

Officials are still investigating this case, but said they do not suspect foul play.
