Santa Cruz Police stop burglary in progress

A man tried to break into a Santa Cruz home, only to get caught in the act by officers.

It all happened inside a home near Carbonera and El Rancho. Police say the homeowner called them about a suspicious man inside her home as they were responding to a separate burglary down the street. When officers arrived they found Christopher Mitz inside the home trying to steal items inside.

Officers say Mitz is connected to the other burglary down the street and was found on surveillance video in the same neighborhood prowling the area. He was arrested and booked for two counts of residential burglary.
