Resources from Sand Fire headed to Central Coast

More firefighters are on their way to the Central Coast. The Soberanes Fire has burned 31,386 acres. According to Cal Fire, resources from the Sand Fire burning in Santa Clarita, are now headed to Salinas. The Sand Fire is listed at 85-percent contained.

Friday morning firefighters from Compton, Santa Fe Springs, Downey and Santa Barbara arrived at the Toro Park base camp.

“When there’s a need for a resource we order it. Those resources can be sent from anywhere throughout the State if they meet our needs. We’ve seen several fire departments from Southern California; Compton, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, San Diego,” said Cal Fire PIO Henry Herrera.

Expected containment is August 31st.
