Memorial Day is a time to remember and respect those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom.
In Moss Landing, people gathered to honor veterans at the Castroville Public Cemetery Monday morning. Taps were also played.
State Senator Bill Monning, Monterey County Board of Supervisor John Phillips and Democratic Candidate for California’s 20th Congressional District Jimmy Panetta spoke at the event.
